And it will take 24 hours to get to Nassau. It's changed the game and the big guys are definitely paying attention to it. According to local Florida Yacht Brokers, customers tell them that they cruise more slowly to save fuel. The crew is already paid for, so it is cost-effective to take a day or two longer to reach a destination.

A super sized yacht is docked next to our outside table in Palm Beach and the captain explains, "It took six full-sized gas trucks to fill its tank -- 35,000 gallons." The price of diesel fuel is driving the yachting behavior. Diesel is above $3 a gallon, compared with $1.10 a year ago. Boat owners plan their outings more carefully to get more bang for the buck. High end Yacht owners today are watching more carefully than you'd think. It gets to be, 'Do I really want to do that?' The days of a spur-of-the-moment trip to Ocean Reef for lunch are twice thought out.
